Bethune-Cookman University is expanding its educational reach with a new continuing education initiative designed to serve learners beyond its traditional student body. Beginning this spring, B-CU Ascend will offer a selection of stackable certifications in fields ranging from healthcare and public safety to business and entrepreneurship.
The program is structured around the idea that learners can build credentials over time, earning one certification after another and stacking them toward broader qualifications. This approach is meant to accommodate working adults and others who may not be able to commit to a full degree program but still want to develop marketable skills.
University officials describe the initiative as a way to connect the institution more directly with the surrounding community and with employers looking for trained workers in high-demand areas. Healthcare and public safety certifications are expected to draw particular interest given persistent workforce shortages in those sectors, while the business and entrepreneurship track aims to support small business owners and aspiring founders.
The stackable format allows participants to enter at different points depending on their goals and prior experience. Someone seeking a quick credential to qualify for a specific job could complete a single certificate, while another learner might accumulate several over a longer period.
Enrollment details and course schedules are expected to be shared ahead of the spring launch.
