On Friday, students from Montessori Magnet School (MMS) proudly showcased their commitment to innovative education during the 36th Annual Regional Technology Awareness Day at the Albany Capital Center. The event emphasized two key elements of the school's mission: peer teaching and the integration of educational technology.
Accompanied by tech coaches Kim McDonough and Sooyun McCoy, a group of enthusiastic fourth graders participated in the conference, which brought together educators, students, and vendors to explore advancements in educational technology. The event aimed to foster collaboration on how these innovations can enhance instruction and improve school district operations.
At the heart of the event was the Tech Playground, where MMS students demonstrated Bee-Bots—programmable robots designed to teach coding, sequencing, directional language, and problem-solving skills. Their hands-on engagement captivated attendees and highlighted the importance of interactive learning.
Additionally, a team of tech coaches from the City School District Albany led a session on artificial intelligence, discussing its potential to support diverse learning needs. This collaborative forum allowed educators from across the state to share tools and strategies, enriching the collective knowledge of participants.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated students and staff who represented the district and showcased their exceptional work in promoting inclusive innovation in education.
