TCC Trustees Back $1M for Adult Education and Job Training

Trustees at Tarrant County College have approved $1 million in funding to expand adult education programs across North Texas. The money will support GED preparation, English language classes and job training for adults who want to build new skills or finish their education.

The college plans to serve 745 adults through the program. The effort reaches across Tarrant, Johnson, Hood, Erath and Somervell counties, giving residents in both urban and rural areas a chance to take part. Many of the students who sign up are working adults who need flexible schedules and practical instruction that fits around their jobs and family duties.

Adult education programs like these often serve people who left high school early, moved to the country from abroad or need a fresh start in the workforce. GED classes help students earn a credential that employers and colleges recognize. English classes give non-native speakers the language tools they need for daily life and better jobs. Job training connects students directly to fields that are hiring, from health care to skilled trades.

The funding reflects a broader push to strengthen the local workforce and help adults who may have been overlooked by traditional education paths. College leaders say the goal is simple: give people the skills they need to find stable work and improve their lives. Classes are expected to begin in the coming months, with enrollment open to eligible adults across the five counties.
