OPINION | Carin Schoppmeyer: TheatreSquared applauds advocates at annual Gala for Education and Access

TheatreSquared celebrated two decades as a professional regional theater during its 2026 Gala for Education and Access, held May 7 at the Fayetteville Public Library. The event recognized the advocates and donors who have helped the nonprofit expand its reach since its founding in 2005.

Now serving more than 70,000 patrons each year, TheatreSquared has grown from a small startup into a cornerstone of Northwest Arkansas arts. The gala highlighted the theater's commitment to making performances and educational programs accessible to everyone, regardless of income or background.

Guests enjoyed an evening of live performances, remarks from company leaders, and a silent auction. Proceeds from the gala directly support the theater's education initiatives, including school matinees, youth workshops, and discounted ticket programs.

Since opening its permanent home on West Avenue in Fayetteville, TheatreSquared has continued to expand its programming. The 20th anniversary milestone comes as the theater prepares for its next phase of growth, with plans to deepen community partnerships and develop new works by regional playwrights.

The gala serves as the organization's primary annual fundraiser for access and education. Organizers reported strong attendance and noted that the event raised crucial funds to keep theater affordable and inclusive for the region's diverse population.
