Those looking for the who, the what and the WEAR need to turn the page, or click your mouse, back to the front of Living It. I won't be repeating myself except to make it clear that the unofficial theme for The St. Louis American Foundation's 39th Annual Salute to Excellence in Education was celebration with a purpose.
The after party carried its own energy. Educators, administrators and supporters who had spent the evening honoring achievement kept the conversation going long after the formal program ended. The room stayed full. People lingered near the stage, traded stories about the teachers who shaped them and made plans to keep the momentum alive in the school year ahead.
What stood out was not the speeches or the ceremony, but the easy mix of generations in the crowd. Veterans of the district swapped notes with newer teachers. Scholarship recipients thanked the people who wrote their recommendations. Somewhere between the music and the last round of photos, the event turned into exactly what it was meant to be: a room full of people who believe education is worth showing up for.
The Salute has built that kind of following over nearly four decades. The after party simply proved the commitment does not stop when the program does.
