A New Orleans charter school purchased its West Bank campus from Archdiocese. See which one.

A New Orleans charter school purchased its West Bank campus from Archdiocese. See which one.

A New Orleans charter network has closed a deal to buy the school building it currently occupies on the West Bank, marking its second property purchase in under two years. International School of Louisiana finalized the acquisition of its campus at 4040 Highway 90 in Avondale from the Archdiocese of New Orleans, according to school officials.

The purchase covers the main instructional building and surrounding land that ISL has leased since opening the West Bank site in 2016. Financial terms were not disclosed. School leaders said the move gives the charter network long-term stability and allows them to invest in upgrades without worrying about lease renewals or rent increases.

This is the second facility ISL has purchased since 2024. Earlier that year, the network bought its Uptown campus on Camp Street, which had also been under a lease arrangement. With both properties now owned outright, ISL controls its physical footprint across two locations serving roughly 1,400 students in grades K through 8.

The Archdiocese has been selling or leasing several of its former school properties in recent years as it consolidates operations and shifts resources toward remaining parish schools. ISL officials said the Avondale campus will continue to operate as-is, with no immediate changes to enrollment, staffing, or programming. They also noted that the purchase does not affect the school's charter agreement with the state, which remains separate from property ownership.

Parents and staff were informed of the sale earlier this week. The school plans to use the newly acquired property to expand its outdoor learning spaces and add parking, pending permits.
